CL, cPanel and EC2

CL, cPanel and EC2 Multiple IPs on EC2 in forum CloudLinux and cPanel.
Just installed your image on EC2. Everything works wonderfully with latest PHP (5.4), MySQL (5.5). However, how do I go about adding more elastic IPs to the setup so they can be used by cPanel. There seems to be little information about this. Any idea how to do this? We do a lot of web hosting and need the additional IPs for SSL certificates.

Thanks for your help.

PHP Manager Question

 Hi Guys,

Quick question around PHP Manager. I have customers that can:

1. Add their own php.ini in their www folder and when loading phpinfo file I can see that it actually looks at this file. Any way to disable this?
2. Clients can disable within PHP Manager suhosin. Any way to not allow them to disable this aswell by unchecking it in PHP Manager?

Thanks
Hi,

I've just installed CloudLinux and php-selector on what was a CentOS 5 (i686) server with cPanel.
The main reason behind it was for the ability to select different PHP versions.

The installs seemed to go ok however when I try and assign a version of PHP other than "native" to any of the accounts I get a 500 error on the client and the following line in the error log

/usr/bin/php: error while loading shared libraries: libmm.so.14: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

yum install libmm returns

Package libmm-1.4.2-1.el5.cloudlinux.i686 already installed and latest version

Any thoughts ?
Hi,

After a fresh install of CageFS in a fresh CL machine. The below list of users are listed in the Disabled Users list. I have never noticed these users in that list before. Just checking in to see if it is cause for concern. I have attached a SS of the default users that are listed.

Thanks
Frank

Adding new hard drive crashes CageFS

Adding new hard drive crashes CageFS in forum CloudLinux and cPanel.
Hi,

I was going to place a support ticket however the support area appears to be down at this time.

After adding a extra disk. CageFS suffered issues such as:
[2013-05-28 12:39:15]: uid: (510/beachsid) gid: (511/beachsid) cmd: php5
[2013-05-28 12:39:15]: CageFS jail error Failed to initialize lve library instance: No such file or directory

After disabling CageFS all sites came back online. The adding of extra disk seems to have wiped out much data from cagefs-skeleton such as home and home2 are now empty (maybe they were always empty?). Trying to enable CageFS brings back the CageFS is currently Disabled page.

Unsure how I should proceed.

Thanks
Frank

Move CageFS

Move CageFS in forum CloudLinux and cPanel.
Hi,

What is the correct procedure to move subject line from /usr/share/cagefs-skeleton to /home2. Should I just uninstall CageFS and re install using the info below? Or Physically move cagefs-skeleton to /home2 and run command ln -s /home/cagefs-skeleton /usr/share/cagefs-skeleton

This is found in Documentation. The server itself has been running for awhile and does have active accounts.

To install CageFS:
$ yum install cagefs
$ /usr/sbin/cagefsctl --init
That last command will create skeleton directory that might be around 7GB in size. If you don't have enough disk space in /usr/share, use following commands to have cagefs-skeleton being placed in a different location:
$ mkdir /home/cagefs-skeleton
$ ln -s /home/cagefs-skeleton /usr/share/cagefs-skeleton
On cPanel servers, if you will be placing skeleton into /home directory, you must configure the following option in:
cPanel WHM WHM -> Server Configuration -> Basic cPanel/WHM Setup -> Basic Config -> Additional home directories
Change the value to blank (not default "home";)
Without changing this option, cPanel will create new accounts in incorrect places.
Does this:
<noindex>http://releases.cpanel.net/releases/11-38/jail-system-update/</noindex>

"Users of mod_ruid2 can now enable “Jailed apache” support which will chroot() each virtual host into their virtfs."
Makes us a little safer now ? I still remember Igor saying it was the best bad idea ever. Anyway. (to use mod_ruid)

So we can run it more "safe" or not now ?
Because I was re-considering trying ruid with DSO.

Accelerators like APC / Xcache / Eaccelerator can run in such environment by the way (mod_ruid with dso)
i believe cloudlinux allow us to specify how many virtual memory and physical memory can be assign to one account. my question is, can i set virtual memory to unlimited which i can set as 0 in the ve.cfg and physical memory to 2 or 3 GB? if this can be done.

1. what will happened if the pysical memory has been fully utilize?
2. will the unlimited virtual memory i set just now will affect actual physical memory which i install on the server?
3. is there any specific calculation that i can use to calculate the maximum concurrent connection that my server can handle.

please advise.

PHP Selector custom PHP without modules ghost option

PHP Selector custom PHP without modules ghost option PHP Selector givesa ghost module option called 'directory' in forum CloudLinux and cPanel.
(SOLVED)

I am setting up PHP selector with a few custom build PHP versions. All pre-configured, modules loaded as needed.
Now when a customer (or the WHM admin user through the LVE manager) selects one of those PHP version's I would have expected there to be no modules to sel ect (to enable or disable). Just as when you select 'native'.

But whatever I try I always end up with one module option called 'directory'?

Just once did I manage to get rid of it by making an exact copy of the PHP directory in /opt/alt/ and adding it with a different name. But I am unable to replicate this 'solution'.

For customers, the option does not do anything. They can switch between the custom versions just fine.
Using the LVE Manager, when I select it to make it default and click save an error pops up stating "Alternatives directory not found".
I have compared my PHP's with the default folders fr om the alt-php packages but can't find anything wrong. I cannot find anything named 'directory' either somewhere (nothing in my php.ini either).

Anyone who has an idea wh ere this comes fr om and/or how to get rid of this last ghost option?

PHP Selector, CageFS and Litespeed Issues

PHP Selector, CageFS and Litespeed Issues in forum CloudLinux and cPanel.
I have been having issues trying to get PHP Selector to work on Litespeed. It was basically changing the opt php.ini files correctly but not changing the PHP version itself.

I followed the following document :
<noindex>http://docs.cloudlinux.com/index.html?litespeed_support.html</noindex>

and got everything exactly as it should be.
It was originally pointing to the /opt files but now goes to default location at: /usr/local/lib/php.ini
I then decided to do the following:

Change everything back on litespeed. 2 settings only. So didn't think I need to reinstall it.

Uninstalled CageFS and PHP Selector and reinstalled both and enabled all users on CageFS.

Still no luck. No one points to /opt php.ini files. Any ideas what could be wrong?
Just wondering, is it possible in the near future
to sel ect php handler with the same way as we select php version fr om selector? (or other way)

For example, virtualmin does it, and I can choose if I want mod_php, cgi or fcgi per domain/account.

Is (or "Will") something like this be possible ?

PHP Selector php.ini settings

PHP Selector php.ini settings in forum CloudLinux and cPanel.
One objection, correct me if I am wrong, but
post_max_size shouldn't be equal with max upload ?
Because one has as highest value 1G and the other 128MB.

And disable_functions can easily implemented on all ? It's handy and useful both ways.
If a) someone want to shut something down for security reasons, or b) if he wants to have an empty line
in case I shut something down in global php.ini for security reasons.

And I don't know if that's doable but, if for example someone use xcache, eaccelerator, suhosin or apc,
shouldn't have an area (custom or not), (could start a textbox with fixed "suhosin." for example)
for any custom module that needs customization ?

For example if someone will check suhosin as a module he might also need to adjust variables
like

suhosin.get.max_value_length or
suhosin.max_input_vars and
suhosin.request.max_varname_length to make thing work propery (like forums, ipb or vbulletin, etc)

or ajdust opcode caching like
xcache.* ? or
eaccelerator.xx.xxx ?
and so on...

Of course if my thoughts are crap, where can I find the per user's generated php.ini to change / add something like this
(suhosin changes, or disable_functions etc) without touching the global php.ini ?
